January

January was a full month with lots
of learning and fun activities.

We started the month by learning about the season "Winter"
Our art project for the week was to use puffy paint to make a snowman.

Another one of our themes for the month of January was
Arctic Animals.
This is one of my favorite weeks all year.
We painted polar bears, made penguins, learned the letter Ii and made marshmallow
igloos.

Our third week of January was spent cooking.
We learned about cooking safety and about eating healthy foods.
Each day the kids helped cook our snack for snack time.

During our cooking week we also went on a field trip
 to the local grocery store.

While we were waiting for our pizza's to cook we played Don't Eat Pete
as a class.

Our last week of January was spent learning about our
5 Senses.
We did many hands on activities and experiments.

  Playing with scented play dough.

Making scented rainbows.

Painting a picture of things we like to see.

Experimenting with kaleidoscopes.
Playing an "I Spy" game.

The highlight from the month was probably our
Snow Day.
The kids loved getting outside and playing together.
We had fun sleigh riding, painting snow with squirt bottles, making snowmen,
and staying warm with hot chocolate.

December...

We started the month of December with our Bird Refuge Field Trip.

Our topic for the month was animals with antlers.
We did many fun activities and learned the difference
between a moose, elk, and deer.

Our theme for the first week of December was
Healthy Bodies.
One of our art projects for the week was painting
a self portrait.

The week leading up to Christmas was full of activities.
We had fun playing in the sensory table full of rice.

During our Christmas party we played games, ate treats, and made reindeer hats and
special reindeer dust.
